New York Meets Kaz and Hope

Sydney; approx. 1pm

The cab driver asks ‘which airline?’, with a slight smirk on his face Kaz replies ‘ahh, just anywhere is fine…’.

Now, Hope, still clueless stands in front of the international departures board being prompted to guess where our destination might be… Singapore, maybe Hong Kong?

New York!

So the adventure begins… A lengthy 13 hour flight to San Francisco and then 5 hours on too Newark Airport, New Jersey, New York. (Sorry to earth for flying so far in one week, will endeavour to not be quite as wasteful)

Arrive at Newark our luggage is delayed and we get miss-directed to our hotel transit which wastes an hour of our time. Finally our shared airport link bus driver comes. Completely crazy 1980’s US TV obsessed, eccentric and overly extroverted guy. He talked to us using his hand in a duck-like manor mimicking the words, got extremely offended when I mistook the DVD he had in the car as Mcgiver when it was Night Rider (he claimed that he was SURE that both of these 1980’s TV series have aired in Australia in the 00’s), and then the best part was a detailed 15-20minute story of this one time his friends wedding vehicle broke down so he came to help out in his big Hummer like van thing and a friend let him drive his ‘Kick-arse’ Bus which he explained to be the highest of wankyness as it gives you ‘thaawrity’ (authority) and the chicks ‘dig it’ – he also honked profusely, at every intersection and female we passed like some sort of twitch.

Finally we arrived at our sweet and humble 86th st mid west uptown apartment and slept like weee babies till the morning.
